The term has been making news across the country for the last few years, but what does it really mean and what are the impacts to building design? The Inflation Reduction Act has the potential to bring millions of dollars to Wisconsin schools for needed facility upgrades and improvements. These unlimited, non-competitive funds have radically reduced the installation costs for modern, clean energy technologies that can help schools reduce operating costs, improve resilience and indoor air quality, and ultimately safeguard student health and learning. Whether your district is replacing aging equipment, building a new school, or simply looking for ways to reduce operating costs as ESSER funding comes to an end, these federal funds can help.

For decades we have assumed that to improve indoor air quality, we just need to add more outside air or do a better job filtering the air. However, one of the lessons from COVID is realizing these long-standing assumptions may not be justifiable any longer. This session will provide an opportunity to discuss the two primary air distribution methods and how differently they impact indoor air quality and the quality of the indoor environment for both new and existing building projects.
