Speaker Nominations

Speaker Nominations Close May 29 • WASBO's Two Fall Conferences

Topics can be submitted using the form below or by visiting this link

WASBO is seeking expert voices and compelling topics for its upcoming conferences. This is a primary opportunity for members to shape the professional development landscape for school business officials across the state. Conference committees will work to brainstorm topics for their conference schedule prior to reviewing nominations to ensure that topics covered reflect feedback from their districts and peers throughout the state and align with the conference purpose and tracks.

Note: Only WASBO members are eligible to submit nominations, and final programming decisions for each conference are made by that conference's planning committee. If you are selected, final presentation materials must be submitted to WASBO one week before the event. If you have questions regarding the scope of a topic or the submission process, you can reach out to Kaitlyn Peters at [email protected] or 608-729-6631.

Here is a deeper look at the speaker nomination process and what you need to know to participate:

Selection Criteria & Priorities

The planning committees don't just look for high-quality content; they look for relevance and collaboration. Your nomination is more likely to be selected if it meets the following:

  • Educational Alignment: The topic must fit the specific tracks and purpose of the chosen conference (e.g., facilities management vs. general school business operations).
  • Peer-to-Peer Insight: There is a strong preference for presentations that include a district professional. This ensures the content is grounded in real-world school district applications.
  • Strategic Fit: Committees brainstorm topics based on statewide district feedback before reviewing nominations to ensure the final schedule addresses the most pressing current issues.

Key Deadlines & Conferences

  • Submission Deadline: May 29, 2026.
  • Target Events: Nominations are being accepted for the 2026 FALL Conference and the Midwest Facility Masters Conference.

How to Submit

You can contribute in two ways: nominating a specific colleague who has expertise to share, or simply suggesting a topic you believe needs to be addressed.
