2020 Midwest Facility Masters Conference to be Rescheduled

In light of Wisconsin Governor Evers’ new order regarding indoor public gatherings, WASBO has decided to reschedule the 2020 Midwest Facility Masters Conference.

Given the importance of this conference to officials throughout the Midwest, we are working to reschedule this conference to 2021. The new conference dates are still being determined, but the goal is to move the conference to early summer at the Kalahari Convention Center. More details will be announced as we confirm.

Once the new dates have been set, exhibitors, sponsors, and attendees can choose whether or not to roll over their registrations to the rescheduled conference or request a refund. We will work with attendees and exhibitors to get information about hotel reservations when we have more information.

The Midwest Facility Masters Conference provides Career Development, Continuing Education and Networking for School Facility, School Operations and School Business Professionals from throughout the Midwest.

Joined as One, We Get the Job Done! There is a critical need to provide facility leaders with timely and useful professional development as you work with various teams in your district to serve your students during a pandemic. This conference addresses that need with sessions related to the Coronavirus as well as ongoing operational requirements. Virtual and in person registration is available. Make a point to get the information you need as you lead during this public health emergency.

Along with new trends and innovations in safety, security, facilities management and operations this year’s conference features sessions to operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, you will want to visit the exhibit hall to learn about innovative new products and services available to improve efficiency, save your district money, and improve the learning environment for kids!

District professionals can choose to attend this conference either in-person or virtually. All sessions will be recorded and provided to attendees after the conference. Due to public health and safety concerns, WASBO will be limiting the number of in-person conference attendees. For the first time in history, five generations comprise today’s workforce. And many of our most experienced workers are retiring. By 2030, 1 in 5 Americans will be 65 years or older, and we’re expecting 50% of facility managers to retire in the next decade. Blue-collar positions are notoriously harder to fill than professional positions, leaving operations executives thinking less about their daily operations and more about how to take their facilities departments into the future. We’ll take an in-depth look at the state of today’s workforce with tips to working cross-generationally, and how to utilize technology like computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other automated software to unlock potential.

Everyone knows by now that converting your dim, outdated, failing lighting with new, bright, LED lighting is the only way to go. We also know that there is significant energy savings and utility rebates to do this type of upgrade, and that a new lighting project will reduce the need for constant maintenance. In this presentation, we will not discuss any of this!  A lighting upgrade offers many more benefits to an educational facility than just energy-savings and reduced maintenance including safety, student performance, and teacher retention, to name a few. Let’s talk about that and how it could help you get projects approved.
