The Why and How of UHT Planning
Is your district transporting students within two miles without claiming state aid? Does the district have an Unusually Hazardous Transportation (UHT) plan that no one has looked at since 1978? The Wisconsin Rapids school district recently undertook a major review of hazardous transportation areas and issues. Hear about the rationale for UHT planning, the collaborative review process, and plan development. Learn about the unique system in place for evaluation of hazards in all areas of the community and the participation of local law enforcement in the evaluation process. Conclude with information about the review and approval process once the district plan is submitted to the DPI.

The Wheels on the Bus and So Much More
Life on a school bus is a community all on its own - gathering this information can be complicated. We will explore how to engage drivers, students, and facility engineers in keeping this community happy and healthy through the use of technology for students, drivers and the facility team. Do you need WiFi on buses for students? Do you need a tracker that goes beyond GPS? Can having more information about what happens on a bus actually save money?

Safe Travels: School Bus Security
Threats and violent critical incidents committed on school buses are thankfully rare, but as more perpetrators are looking for easier targets of opportunity we must consider all places and circumstances where children are present and under our supervision. Although options may seem limited, we can and must consider school bus security through the same lenses that we use for our school emergency operations plans: prevention, mitigation, preparation, response, and recovery. Thus presentation will address each of these pillars of school security as they relate to our transportation operations.
