The Superior Area School District had considerable need for facility improvements. After years of discussions, there was finally the motivation to develop a long-term facility vision which allowed for the continued evolution of teaching and learning. The result of the process was the passage of a $92 million-dollar referendum which included replacing Cooper Elementary School, major additions and renovations to Superior High School, and other district deferred maintenance projects. How did the district establish facility solution priorities and what process determined the greatest needs of the district? The presentation will provide the strategies that lead to the Superior Area School District’s short and long-term facility and teaching vision.

Lead in water from an elementary school’s kitchen sink, 1.5 liters of mercury in a science classroom closet, visual residual mold growth and spores on roof decking, these are all environmental hazards CESA 10’s Facilities Management Department have found and safely removed in Wisconsin schools in the past six months.
