The SAA is continuing its work in four key areas.  The SAA is developing a Vision Statement that will guide our work for the upcoming 2011-13 budget process.  SAA has been influential in developing the Rural Schools Caucus to help small districts and rural districts have a voice in future legislation.  SAA has been influential in dealing with environmental legislation on several fronts, specifically dealing with indoor environmental quality and green cleaning supplies and equipment.  In addition, SAA continues to collaborate and develop coalitions with many school organizations and governmental units in preparing for the next 2011-13 Budget legislative process.

The Facilities Committee has taken a leadership role in helping SAA deal with the environmental legislation. The committee also would like to provide models that could be used by all school districts addressing environmental concerns.  Because of the Facilities Committee’s work a number of WASBO members will be appointed to the task force required by Act 96 (Indoor Environmental Quality Task Force).  This committee is also working with the SAA on the Green Cleaning Bill.
